Last week I was invited to the refurbished House of Elemis in Mayfair for a facial treatment.
My first impression upon arrival was how much bigger the spa now seemed. It had a substantial retail area which was very open with the full range of Elemis products on display to tempt me. I had been informed by the Elemis PR team prior to my appointment that the precise facial I received would be determined by my needs and an assessment of my skin by my therapist on the day. I completed a consultation form for my therapist.
My therapist Chloe greeted me and took me to the penthouse suite for my treatment. The treatment room was large, comfortable and very welcoming. After reviewing my consultation form Chloe took photos of my skin which she then reviewed and explained to me.
Chloe recommended a combination of the lifting and resurfacing Biotec facials for me. It is a mark of quality when the therapist has the skill and the experience to customise a facial for her client. The facial comprised a balance of Elemis products from two ranges – the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing and the newer Pro-Intense Lift. At different stages in the facial Chloe used the Elemis Biotec machine. This machine and its specially-created facials were launched last year.
The Biotec machine offers a combination of ultrasonic, micro-current, oxygen and red and blue light therapy to treat the skin and also to boost the efficacy of the products used during the treatment. The only part of the treatment I found odd (it was in no way uncomfortable but it sounded a bit like a dentist drill!) was the ultrasonic peel. A wand was passed over my face which delivered 27,000 vibrations per second to draw out impurities and gently exfoliate the skin. Chloe then used the micro-current lift and targeted my cheek area and jaw line. The final stage with the machine was the light therapy to rebalance the skin. She used a combination of red light to stimulate collagen production and blue light for an anti-bacterial effect.
Chloe completed a personalised skin programme leaflet for me to take away which gave product information and provided the perfect shopping list for me.
Although I adore many Elemis face and body products this was my first facial that used this machine. I really enjoyed my facial and Chloe was a fantastic therapist and I left the House of Elemis feeling relaxed but honeatly not seeing a huge difference from the addition of the Biotec machine. However I am fortunate to have good skin and, due to the nature of my job, I have access to some of the very best skincare available. I do believe that the more challenged you skin is, the easier it is to see immediate results from these treatments.
However, the next day, and for several days afterwards, I did see an improvement in my skin tone and also, more importantly for me, a firmness and plumpness in my skin especially around my jawline. I would highly recommend this facial especially if you have a special event coming up. I believe that a course of treatments would deliver greater benefits.
I was not charged for my treatment.
